Women Folk

We women are an interesting lot.  The bathing suit thing is pretty universal -- do you know many women who actually enjoy shopping for a suit?  This afternoon I heard a woman tell a clothing sales person that they'd sell a lot more bathing suits if they had mirrors that make you appear tan and thin.

And then there's makeup. I have to admit, I really don't get it. Though for me it's been years since I've done regular facial primping. I will put makeup on for some outings and events, but most days I am makeup-free.

This morning I went to an early-morning water aerobics class. 7:45a.m. Water. Aerobics. You get wet, and the part of you that's not getting wet is sweating. Anyway, I was the only one in the class who wasn't a senior citizen, and I was one of the few without my hair done up, makeup applied, and adorned with jewelry. Yes, that's right. Hair. Makeup. Jewelry. In a pool.

I don't usually go to this morning class, but since I had today off and the Y is closed tomorrow, I went today. Apparently the Y is where it's at for the early morning senior social scene.  I just can't imagine getting all put together just to go in a pool, where there's splashing, and you know, swimming.

I wonder what aliens would think if they peeked in on us women folk.  They'd probably think the same thing as men. That we're nuts.

Ohhh yes, the social scene at the Y! Sometimes I cannot get to the Nautilus equipment because the seniors are sitting on it and yapping away. 'SCUSE ME, folks, I WANT TO WORK OUT! ;)

I wear make-up, but for a very long time, I wore only eyeliner and a little blush. I'm lucky I had boys, too, because I'm not a girly-girl when it comes to doing hair, wearing make-up, and concocting outfits! Heck, I loved playing "war" in the woods with boys when I was a kid, too.

Wait a minute....if I remembery correctly the senior men like to hang out for hours in the hot-tub together.....perhaps checking those women out.

I think we're all nuts.

Except I'm a low-maintenance, minimal, if any, make-up kind of girl, especialy in the summer.

Of course, we don't really know about alien life. Their women might take five hours to get ready to leave the house.

Spruced up hair and makeup in the pool is just plain craziness, if you ask me.
