Wow. Thanks for the comments and e-mails on MP3 players. I have some research and learning to do to get out of the dark ages! Since I don't have the extra cash burning a hole in my pocket, I'll take my time with the decision. And I'll know who to ask when I have questions -- y'all are the best!
Speaking of music, the new Idol has been selected. What does everyone think?
I enjoyed seeing the top 12 again last night, and really didn't care who won. I figured it would be Taylor. I thought my husband was going to throw something at the TV when they announced the winner. He SO wanted Kat to win. I never thought Taylor would get so far in the competition, honestly. Yeah, he's fun & has a unique stage presence, but I don't think he's that great a singer.
Though he does do the Joe Cocker-esque thing really well. I guess I just can't get past the fact that he often looks like he's hovering over a toilet (or should be) when he's on stage. America has spoken, as they say. And to show you how much of a dork I am, I'd go see the whole group perform live on the Idols tour.
Other thoughts on last night's show:
Meat Loaf looks really bad. I was afraid he might keel over right there on the stage.
I thought the funniest moment was the Clay-Aiken wannabe's reaction to the real Clay Aiken coming out on stage. That was excellent.
Last season I wanted Bo to win, but man, Carrie Underwood is really doing well. What a break into the country music scene -- she even picked up 2 awards from the Academy of Country Music the other night. I thought she did a great job last night.
I was surprised to see Prince appear as the time-killer for the last few minutes. Has he been doing anything recently?
Chris Daughtry rocks. Plain and simple. I think he has a great career ahead of him.
Elliott's Mom is adorable. And that Elliott is a sweetheart.
Kellie Pickler and Wolfgang Puck? Oh. My. Goodness.
Anyone else?

We were so glad Taylor won. Rich's co-workers had an AI pool going at school where they all drew names from a hat at the beginning of the season, and the winner would take home $100 or so. Guess who drew Taylor's name? Rich is very happy.
I thought the Meatloaf-Kat duet was creepy. I thought he was going to pounce on her right there on stage.
Prince looked like he had been cryogenically frozen for the last 10 years.
Love Clay. Hate his new hair.
And I agree-Chris rocks and Elliot's mom is too cute.

Kristi, Ooooh! An AI pool -- very fun!! Congrats to Rich!! Now he can buy you another KitchenAid appliance.
You mean you thought Meat Loaf was going to drop dead on her right there on stage? That dress was a freakin invitation, for crying out loud.
Yeah, Clay's hair... I didn't recognize him at first! I read a review this a.m. that compared his do to a Swiffer! HA!

The Wolfgang-Pickler thing made me uncomfortable. I thought they were exploiting her a little bit.
I think Taylor is a better performer now....but Kat has the potential to be better, she just has to find her voice--figure out who she is.
There's something about Taylor that reminds me of a good old boy....but I'm trying to keep an open mind. He's very good.

Raehan,
I agree about the Pickler bit. She's so naive! It's probably easy for the producers to showcase what they want to with her.
It will be interesting to see what comes of Taylor & Kat. I was a big Fantasia fan, but now I never hear her!

Ha! I've been dying to comment on this stuff! OK, here's my thoughts.
I was rooting for Taylor after Chris left. I was loyal to Chris up till then, though. Chris rocks. I think he did himself in with all the grim serious faces towards the end though... was he TRYING to get himself knocked off? Maybe it got a bit too bubblegum for him, who knows. Anyway, he will do well.
Oh! And I wanted Bo to win SO badly last year. I am not a country fan, so Carrie Underwood never did anything for me. But for the finale... didn't she strike you a bit like a put-out, grumpy looking mannequin? Or was it just me?
Kelly Pickler is just a ditz. I was glad when she didn't make it further in the competition. I tivo'd the finale, so I was able to fast forward through the Wolfgang Puck part... THANK YOU tivo!!!
I liked Rockstar last summer better than Idol... I am hoping it will be on again this summer. I heard on the radio it will be Van Halen looking for a new front person this time.

Holly,
Carrie did look mannequin-ish for sure -- very made up. I didn't notice the grumpiness. I was thinking how exhausted she must have been -- the Academy of Country Music awards were the night before, where she performed in front of a LOT of living legends. I can't even imagine how stressful that must have been!!
I caught some of Rockstar last summer & did enjoy it. I wasn't a regular watcher though... I don't have Tivo & I just don't watch much tv in the summer I guess.
