Alright. I've seen the light on the whole iPod/MP3 player thing. And now, I NEED one.
After spending the weekend with my teenaged niece, I have experienced the coolness & benefits of digital music, firsthand. I mean, I understood it in theory before, but now that I've used an iPod (attached to incredible speakers, subwoofer, etc.), I'm completely sold. Boy, do I feel like I'm living in the stone ages flipping CDs in & out of the player.
Looks like Apple isn't making the Minis any more, and is selling the Nanos now as the mid-range iPods. And they're not cheap, of course. The 4GB Mini holding 1000 songs seems just right to me. I'll be scouring eBay for a deal.
Do you have an MP3 player? What do you have? What do you recommend?

On a related note...
Have I mentioned that my lawn-obsessed neighbor has an iPod now? And that she's always out there wearing her white earbuds, belting it out very badly at the top of her lungs? As in, my windows are closed right now, but I can hear her wailing away loud and clear. It's hysterical.
I'm so tempted to videotape her. And YouTube it.
That would be rude, wouldn't it?

I LOVE my IPod Mini and think the bucks for the nano would be worth your while. I use mine for exercise, to play music in the kitchen, and through my car stereo. Hope you find a deal soon!

No iPod here, but my son couldn't live without his. He has the regular (pre-video) version, and has about, 5000 songs on it. Which means I can stay in the 20th century and listen to his CDs, which are now stacked in his room.

I won't get an iPod just on principle. But I do have a digital music player that I use sometimes when I run. Otherwise, it's the radio or CDs for me. I like to live old-school.
I don't think that would be rude. Come on! We need a little excitement. Public domain if she's singing out in the yard!

Rude begets rude, in other words, she deserves it.

Hey M,
I went all out and got the 60G IPod. Love it. (Holds about 15,ooo songs.) The 30G probably would have done fine. I'm not sure I would have been as happy with a smaller one. Holds ALL of my music collection, making it VERY tempting to trade all my cds in for . . . more cds that I can import to ITunes.
You will love whichever one you get.
