Ding ding ding!
The bell rang, and I was off to the races to attend my first "garage sale" of the season.
Well, it was held in a church basement, but you know...
There was a bounty of used children's clothing. I arrived at the opening bell to get while the getting was good. And I'm glad I did, as the place was buzzing immediately at 9 a.m. Unencumbered by stroller & wiggling child, I moved swiftly through the toddler boy clothes.
My big purchase was a Halloween costume very similar to this one. It's in beautiful condition, and I think we may get 2 years out of it, because it's kind of big. $10 - pretty good. I got a bunch of shorts, a bathing suit (also with Pooh) and summer pajamas for my boy. And I came out well under $20, as is my game.
I guess that was my Earth Day celebration. I don't consider myself to be an environmentalist, per se, though I am big on the three Rs: reduce, reuse, and recycle. I was kind of curious about the history of Earth Day, so I read about it here. I was in kindergarten in 1970, so I guess that's why I don't remember the first Earth Day.
Now that I think of it, I am doing some more reusing/recycling this weekend. I moved a bag of old clothes to my car for delivery to a women's shelter.
Of course the furnace is running here today, because DANG! It's cold. I have to draw the line somewhere!
Have a great weekend!

and my a/c just kicked on...
it seems like somewhere around 1985 earth day was HUGE in my elementary for some reason.

Marie - I didn't hear about the parking garage incident, but just now read about ir in the D&C. I'm parking in the Washington Square Garage now.

Marie, he's going to look adorable in that costume, make sure you post pictures!
And if you need to warm up, c'mon down...I got a sunburn at the beach today...and the water was actually warm enough that I got in up to my waist. :)

HolyMama,
1985?! I was in college then. Wow. I feel so old!
Kristi,
I get some kind of odd buzz off of it. Well, I guess it's safer than drugs!
Barbara,
Thanks for writing back from my question on your blog! I heard about the collapse right after it happened on Friday & thought of you right away! They said no one was hurt though, so I knew you were fine.
Tammy,
That sounds GLORIOUS! Won't you be surprised when I show up at your door?! ;-)
