In-vest-ment

A while back, I loaded my car with several bags of clothes and shoes and donated them to a charity. Today, I looked squarely at some of the items that survived the purge and thought maybe they should go, too.

With massive progress on our plumbing project -- we now have new drain pipes from the 2nd floor sink and tub to the basement -- my husband is at the stage where he needs to get to an access panel to install a new pipe to vent the bathtub drain pipe. The access panel is in the very back of my bedroom closet.

So I emptied my closet today and had another look at the clothing I chose to keep.

In particular, my vest collection.

They're from the 80s and 90s. I loved my vests. Truth is, I haven't worn them in quite some time. I don't know if they'll ever be fashionable again, or that they ever were fashionable in the first place!

So tell me. Do you think these will ever be in style again? You can give it to be straight. I can take it. (Click photo to admire the vests in all their glory.)

I am no fashionista, nor will I ever pretend to be, so this opinion is a completely unprofessional one. But I would have to say no. It was a sad day when I had to throw out of 80s and 90s collection of stretch pants, as well, but I believe the world is a better place because of my decision.

OH GOD, NO! (I got rid of mine, too!) And if they do come back in, you aren't "allowed" to wear them, k?

Those are great!!!

Boy those take me back. Keep the picture and let go of the vests.Easier said than done I know, but be strong.

I'm with Sarcasmom. Keep the photo, ditch the vests. Be strong. You can do it.

What, they aren't STILL in style?

I used to love my vests. Keep them!

I say to keep your favorite and donate the rest. I have my favorite vest and I refuse to get rid of it!!! I moved it 700 miles, so you are entitled to keep 1. :-)

Caryl

I would say it's time to let them go. Their time has passed. :)

I married you when you were still wearing those vests. There's just no predicting what the consequences of getting rid of them may be to our marriage. Who knows?...maybe it'll help?
; )

Gosh, I think I had the two vests to the left and right. No idea where they are now.

You may keep them if you like, but as keepsakes *only*.

Wow, well it's practically unanimous! The two on the ends in front were my favorites. I wore them many many many times. If you know me, you probably recognize them. ...heavy sigh....

So, hubby, you're saying you have a vested interest in this discussion?? ;-)

No expert on clothing, I still can't manage to match my purse and shoes, but I am a fan of getting rid of things you haven't worn in the past year. I always toss: even the "I might fit into it again" clothes or the "I need these fat pants in case..."

Egads... those look just like my own previous collection. Right down to the southwest motif.

I say, given 'em away. By the time they come back in style (IF they ever do), you probably won't be interested anyway.

Oh man. I used to loooove a nice crisp white shirt under a vest.

(And you asking Mr. Marie if he had a vested interest make me laugh out loud!)

I used to think those vests were so cool! Which probably means you'd do well to ditch them.

Those. Must. Go! Immediately!!

The vests are now in my donation pile! If you see anyone walking around in them... give them a smile for me!!

martha stewart would have you cut them into four inch squares, hot glue them to a square of cork the same size and use them for coasters!

You are so right, David! Too small for curtains, but just right for a set of coasters...

Vests are so cool - Save the vests!
