Have you ever noticed yourself using a particular word repeatedly in conversation?
Oh man. I just made a business call and found myself saying "basically," over and over. And over. I even caught myself doing it but couldn't stop! It was as though once I became hyper-aware of my words, it spilled out of me even more.
"Well, basically, you'll need to.... basically this is what will happen... yes, it's a lot of fun basically...."
Acccckkkk!
Basically, I'm an idiot!

I had a proud mother moment today, which I will share shortly. A little background first.
After my little boy's bath last night, I got him all bundled up in a clean diaper, t-shirt, and footie jammies. Then, I went into my room to get into my own comfie clothes. The clean little cutie shuffled in right behind me. I opened and closed a drawer, looking for a t-shirt. He opened and closed the same drawer, after me. I changed my clothes, and he continued opening and closing various drawers, til he hit the jackpot.
"Emmo!!!" (Elmo)
"Emmo! Emmo! Emmo!"
He had discovered a stash of clothes I'd picked up at garage sales, for "some day," including a turtleneck covered with lots and lots of faces of Sesame Street characters. He was soooo excited and pulled it out of the drawer, gesturing to me that he wanted to wear it. Sure! I told him he could wear it tomorrow, even though it's 2 sizes too big.
"Emmo! Onnie!" (Ernie)
"Let's go show Daddy what you found!"
And we did.
At this point, it was bedtime for the little guy, so I grabbed a pile of books and invited him to sit with me to read. Still clutching the shirt, he took the books, one by one, and threw them on the floor. He held the shirt up to himself again. Like he was going to sit and read when he'd found this cool shirt? No way!
So I took the jammies off and put the big multi-faced turtleneck on him, cuffed the sleeves and sent him off to see Daddy again.
He ran, head cocked to the side and down. He's not used to so much material around his neck, and he wanted to have a look at the shirt!
He slept in the turtleneck, with sweatpants, and he's been wearing it all day today.
We went to the library after lunch today, where he played with trains. We met a boy the same age and the boys played alongside each other. I sat and chatted with the Mom and watched my little guy play in his too-big shirt, his hair clean and combed. He spotted a big Pooh bear across the room, and ran toward it, clomping his boots on the way. "HUNNY!!! HUNNY POOH!" He approached every adult in the children's room and said hi to them, and with each stop, he pointed out that they were looking at a "book!"
It probably doesn't sound like much, but I am so proud watching him turn into this functioning little person, with interests and opinions, a sense of humor, and even manners sometimes!

We have a very large hole in our kitchen ceiling. My husband cut the hole so that he could access the bathroom pipes. As of a few minutes ago, our bathtub is draining into the kitchen sink. I'll be writing about how it all goes. My hubby is a big-time DIY-er. If he doesn't know how to do something, he learns how to do it. I'm usually the assistant. I will admit that of all the projects I've assisted with, the plumbing ones are my least favorite. This one's a doozy! We'll see how it goes.

By the way, have I mentioned that your comments are the best?
Yes, yours, dear readers. You've given me lots of warm fuzzies the past few days.
Thank you! Y'all are the best.

I chuckled outloud with all of your little tales there. Very amusing and oh so cute. I think Monet and your little man should seriously meet up.

Awww! It's so funny when they get attached to a clothing item. And he's saying so many words, you should be one proud mommy.

He sounds adorable. Glad you are having so much fun with him. Enjoy!

Sounds like you're having a blast with your little guy.
Good luck with that hole in the ceiling!

Melody,
They would have a blast!
Katie,
He's blowing me away... Today "Bye-bye see you" was a new one. Every day it's something. I had to pry the shirt off him tonight to get it to the laundry chute!
Raehan,
He is... but I am clearly biased!
Barbara,
The hole. Oy. The hole. I'm trying not to think about it. Though if I show a pic of it, you'll see that it's pretty hard to avoid.

Geez Marie, I'm getting whiplash from that post! One minute I'm bascially thinking we say, Right? too much around here. The next minute, I'm in love with your kids. Then I'm worried about your ceiling. And then I get the warm fuzzies. Right?

Just like your two are, VW!
Sorry about that R2Ks! It was a stream of consciousness kind of post (basically ;-) )...

I find myself saying the same words over and over too. I say "freakin'" way, way too much. ;)
Your poor kitchen! I know your pain, as my bathroom floor leaked water onto my kitchen ceiling a few years ago. It wasn't fun.
And how cute about the Elmo shirt. He's growing up so fast!

Seriously, have a wonderful weekend Marie:)
