Me: Rushing to get a bowl of cereal
I've gotta boogie this morning! I have a meeting at 9:00.
Son: Boo gie! Boo gie!
Runs over to stereo & looks at me
Ready to boogie at a moment's notice! We boogie to this a lot these days.
----------------------------------------
Me: Look at the snow!
Son: Nose! Nose!
Me: Yes! It's sssssnow! Snow!
Son: Nose! Nose!
---------------------------------------------
Other words we hear a lot:
Mommy, Daddy (of course) and the not-as-common Mommydaddy and Daddymommy
Cars! cars! Cars!
Bus!
Joooos (juice) and mook (milk)
Cheese -- said both for the edible variety, and in anticipation of picture-taking. Best of all, when he can get his hands on the camera, he presses it against his forehead & runs around shouting "Cheese! cheese!"
Cookie (for cracker, corn chip, cookie)
Bah (banana)
Appoo (apple)
No! No! No! -- Which means both no and yes. For example, when the question is "would you like a banana?" the response is NO!!! before smushing as much banana as will fit into his mouth.
Onnie! Onnie! Onnie! (Ernie, from Sesame Street)
Emmo! Emmo! (Elmo)
T! T! TD! (said while pointing to the TV)
--------------------------------------
We're working on manners, too. So far, we have Pees (please) and Gum, which is like "you're welcome," only it's used like thank you.
For instance:
me: Would you like some apple? Can you say please?
son: PEES!
me: OK, here you go.
son: Gum.

I have to say, watching language development is completely amazing to me!! And fun!

I love hearing my kids speak. Tot is starting to say more and more words. I love it. I actually understand some of them now! Sounds like you got yourself a great talker there!

I too enjoyed my youngest daughter learning to speak. She spoke some broken form of Japanese for the first 2 years and then she got really mad when I didn't know what the heck she was talking about! Now she is 6 and has a wonderful vocabulary and word structure. I do miss the foreign language days though...

VW,
I love hearing him put two words together -- even if it's just Hi Emmo! It's just too darn cute.
Keb,
Funny that you mention the Japanese -- I'm sure that's what we're hearing here much of the time too. And it's a very expressive form of Japanese. I'm even impressed by that!

Oh what a sweetie your little man is! Monet seems to be starting to use more words these days too. Of course there is Mamma and Dadda but lots of other words which I can only just understand. It is pretty amazing at times, even Lyndon and I were just saying that last night.

My sister-in-law is a speech pathologist and she keeps us in the know on what our kid should be saying and at what times he should be saying things. Sounds like your boy has a good grasp of things right now.

Peas and gum, boogie. Too Cute!
And how confusing on the no/yes conundrum :)

I soooo miss the lil' guy years. The days that Nick thought a helicopter was pronounced "hoppy-hop", and "I love you" was "MooMooDoou". My lil guy now stands a good 5 inches taller than me. Enjoy it while you can!

Bah is only "banana?" For my kids, it meant ball, bye, bottle and who knows what all else!
