Here's a newsflash --- if you wait til the 23rd to get a Christmas tree, you won't get one. At least not in these parts. We drove around for about 2 hours today, looking for a tree. We went to every lot I know of on our side of town, only to find needles left on snow-covered parking lots. We even drove out to a cut-your-own tree farm out in the country. Closed. Why would a tree farm be closed on December 23rd? The place is mammoth. I could clearly see from the road that they weren't out of trees.
We did find a few tiny, worse-than-Charlie-Brown trees for 75% off, leaning against the building outside a hardware store. They were the pathetic leftovers on their way to the mulcher. We decided a fake tree would be better than one of those.
And so we'll be setting up my small artificial tree this year. Which is probably just as well, with a very busy toddler in the house. There will be no water to spill all over the place when the tree is tipped over.
I've been baking like a fool this year and sharing goodies with relatives and friends. But how can I share some of these treats with my blogging friends?
You'll have to use your imagination on this one. Close your eyes (after you read this, of course), and imagine chocolate chip cookies, cut-outs, peanut blossoms, and fudge bars coming out of the oven. Inhale deeply. There you have it. Help yourself. I'll put more out -- take as many as you'd like.
Coffee? Tea? Milk? Bailey's Irish Cream?
I hope you have a wonderful time with people who are special to you this weekend. See you after Christmas...

Oh boy, after all that inhaling, I can't button my pants either!! I love people who bake for the holidays and of course share their goodies with people who don't (like me). Have a fabulous Christmas and a wonderous New Year, and thanks sooo much for the amazing card!! Your little guy is soooo adorable. I love putting so many layers on my kids in the winter that their arms stick straight out!!

Apply yourself. There are plenty of fresh Christmas trees growing on the median of the interstate.
It's all about effort.
