The wedding we went to on Saturday was the first we'd been to together since our own wedding, nearly 3 years ago. It was a gorgeous, sunny day, and a very lovely wedding. During the ceremony, I found myself feeling especially sappy, sentimental, and content, thinking about my own marriage and family.
Hearing the bride and groom say their vows, and hearing the minister's words reminded me of the promises my husband and I made to each other on our wedding day. This made me feel very mushy, and reminded me how much I love being married to my husband.
Though not one for sappy words or Hallmark cards oozing with mush, my hubby is, indeed, a romantic man. He tries to hide that fact with a curmudgeon-ly exterior. However, I know that beneath that hard, crusty shell, there's a marshmallow-sweet teddy bear.
Sunday morning he put a video tape in to play. "What's that?" I asked as he rewound the tape. He made some wise-crack comment, as usual, but then moments later my question was answered when the tape started to play. He had gotten our wedding video out so that we could watch it.
Once a Pickle Man, always a Pickle Man.

Awwww! We don't have a wedding video, but we do have the service on an audio cassette. Any day now I'm going to find someone to copy it to a CD as a backup. Yup, any day.

A beautiful post! As was the Pickle Man post. :)
Completely off the subject of anything but pickles....somehow a tradition started with our daughter, Lindsay, who loves pickles. Every year, Santa brings a jar of pickles. I kid you not. We have pictures of her proudly holding her jar of pickles. She's getting older (11) and doesn't get quite such the kick out of it, but we still get that jar of pickles every year.

BGM,
Yep... any day now we're going to have our tape recorded onto DVD!
Tammy,
Aren't traditions great? She'd probably complain (or at least be disappointed) if she didn't get a jar now!

That is way sweet... Way, way sweet. You made me look forward to whatever wedding lies ahead. It should be fun to be on the other side. Good point.
