We've been playing a lot of peek-a-boo at our house the past few days, because a certain almost 1-year-old boy here has learned some new skills.
I cover my eyes with one hand and say "where's Mommy?" Quickly, the hand is removed from my face by a little smiling toothy boy, and he has it placed back on my eyes before I can utter "here I am!"
He (kind of) covers his eyes with his hands, a blanket, a book, a balloon, toy, whatever. I make a plea... "where's my boy?" And he soon reveals his not-so-hidden eyes. Yesterday, he added a new twist to the game. He covers his eyes, and says "hi" from behind his cloak,... perhaps so that there isn't a delay in finding him.
Any way, this morning our darling boy awoke early and got his parents both out of bed at 4:45a.m. He typically sleeps til 7/7:30, so this wasn't the norm. He stood in his crib, screaming and crying, for a reason that remains a mystery to me. I changed his diaper & snuggled him for a few minutes, and then put him back to bed. He cried for a couple minutes, and then I heard loud thuds. Thuds are a good sign -- they tell us he's laying down rather than standing in his crib. When he rattles, we know he's standing, but we heard thuds. Thuds are good. Then there were a few clucks and gurgles, telling me that he was settling down just fine. Just before I dozed back to sleep, I heard a very muffled "hi" coming from my son's room. I presume he was in there playing peek-a-boo all by himself, in the dark! Mommy smiles just thinking about it...

Ahhhhhhhh. Cuteness. I love these kind of stories. :-)

That is just too cute. I love the peekaboo stage, and thinking about your son playing by himself in his crib made me smile, too!

Leslie,
Me too. I'm a mush!
Suzanne,
Yeah, I remind myself that this won't last forever. Come to think of it, we better get some peek-a-boo on video!
