We're preparing for a c-c-cold weekend here in NY. Last I heard, it was 2 degrees outside, before factoring in the windchill. Brrr. We're supposed to get a foot of snow or so, which is big for us this year. Usually a big snow event here is a few feet, but with hardly any flakes so far this winter, they're talking this one up.
I'm ready! I have fixins for chili, homemade soups, hot chocolate, plus movies... And plenty o' diapers for the babe. We have Love Actually and A Mighty Wind. They look like picks I'll like, though I doubt my hubby will enjoy them. He'd rather watch American Chopper reruns for the 19th time. Plus, he'll be out plowing the neighbors out. Any way, I'm ready to stay inside & cozy for the duration.
Yesterday, a friend in North Carolina e-mailed me about her area shutting down after 1" of snow. She's a former upstate NY-er, so she was chuckling. There must be more to it than was reported... kids had to stay overnight at school after 1" of snow?!
What's going on for the weekend where you are?
Oh, I almost forgot! There's a fabulous party going on this weekend, and we're all invited. Check it out if you're game. It's a black tie red-carpet affair honoring the nominees of the recent Best of Blog Awards. I plan on attending in my sweats (shhh, don't tell), but anyone who's anyone on the blogosphere is bound to drop by. Come on by!
ps -- Would you like a gmail account? Gmail is Google's beta web-based mail program. I have some invitations, just send me an e-mail if you'd like one...

Oh dahling! You're marvelous to stop by. And you're bringing friends? Yes, the more the merrier....Champagne and caviar for ALL!!

Yeah, I live down in NC too (Chapel Hill). What a bunch of idiots these people are down here....
Love Actually is a HILARIOUS movie. He should like it too. We both love it. If you're squeamish about nudity or swearing, you might not enjoy it as much, though.

I love snuggling in. I don't even need snow to do it. :)

As a former upstate New Yorker who has spent over 14 years in the "wannabe South" (aka Kentucky), I can testify to the paralysis that hits with 1" of snow. It cracks me up, but after seeing the winding roads leading down to the Ohio River, I can testify that I wouldn't want my child on a schoolbus with even half an inch of snow on the pavement!

Ah, so I see that you have what we just got rid of. COLD!! But, alas, we have another storm heading in. Looks to be ice first, followed by snow.
I have yet to see Love Actually, but I really want to. We have A Mighty Wind. It was pretty good, but not the best he's done.
Enjoy your snuggling in.

Hey! Again. Just noticed the "Love Actually" mention. One of my favs, as well. Stars those two scamps I brought with me to the Red Carpet Celebration. Very cute. They're fun to watch. But as supportive date-mates, they are SO unreliable. Cute movie. Watch it frequently. But in the Webster's entry for Gratuitous Sex, Love Actually is the i.e. .... I'm just sayin'...

Why hello, Pink Poppy! With your hectic red carpet event, I'm surprised to see you stop by! Do come again... yes, I noticed whose arms you were on... beauty! I'll let you all know what I think of the flick. The more I hear, the more I think it'll be just me enjoying it! :-)
Caltech girl - I forgot you were in NC! I think of you as being in CA. I shall now think of you as CaltechNC girl.
Anita, You too! Dropping by when you're so busy tripping on the red carpet! You should have your gmail invite... :-)
Karen, I'm a snuggler too. The snow just makes it all the more fun. I love to bake during a good snowfall too...
BGM, Yeah, the thought of buses on untreated windy roads is scary! For sure. My sis lived in DC years ago & would tell how people would abandon their cars everywhere on the roads when there was a dusting of snow! She saw it as an opportunity to go out & get errands done (since no one else was on the road)...
Hi Jody, Thanks for sending your weather our way... brrrrr.

I liked Love Actually! Watched it this afternoon... Great cast, and I loved the Bean (Rowan Atkinson) cameos. Really cute.. I'll watch it again, I'm sure. (Hubby watched the beginning & then went about his business doing other things...)
